We’ve been making shock covers for dirt track and off-road applications for over a decade now. A few years ago we received an order from a rally car driver in Sweden. While it was pretty cool to see our covers being used in a full-bodied car application, we didn’t think we would see much more.
Roll forward a few years, and we have started to see more covers come through for full-bodied cars – not just rally cars, but cars being used on the street, in track day and autocross. I was a little surprised as I didn’t see the harsh conditions and debris in these applications like you would see on a dirt track or even the roads a rally car competes.
I finally asked one of our customers ordering a set of our covers for his car, why?. He was an autocrosser and explained that he had put a lot of money into the coil-overs he was running on his car. He lived in Wisconsin where the winters can be pretty harsh. He explained that he runs the covers in the winter, since he also uses his car as a daily driver. The covers protect his investment from all the slush, salt and grime that come with winter driving, but takes them off in the spring.
